There are few things in life that relieve stress and burn calories at the same time, running is one of them. Previously I was a cross-country and track runner and I loved it. For some reason or another I stopped running. For years I never thought about it. In fact the thought of running was enough to make me nauseous. Things change and it’s amazing what a little motivation can do. About a year ago I started running again. I wanted to run a 1/2 marathon with my dad, so I got my feet moving. I fell in love all over again. The feel of fresh air, the trill of finishing a race and the company of friends while running turned my 1 half marathon into a 1/2 a bunch of 5ks, 10ks and a full. I wanted to take my mid distance running up to the next level though. My comfort pace was around 8:30 for around 10 miles – I could run it without working too hard, yet my legs felt some burn afterwards. So I made a commitment… it’s #tenmiletuesdays… 10 miles every Tuesday for an entire year. Push myself hard every other week and in a year run that 10 miles a solid sub 7. It’s been about 8 weeks and I’m running low 7:40s on average. I’m not sure where this will go, but I’d encourage you to join in on the fun! Remember I hated running… It took one simple 5k to get my blood flowing. Start off small, set goals you can accomplish and get your feet moving. BTW – it’s good to be back on the blog again. I’ve missed you all.
